The oral doctoral examination of Ahmet Celik, candidate for the Ph.D. degree, will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 1:00 pm in Hall of Languages, Room 504 and via Zoom.
Celik’s advisors are Professor Zachary Braiterman and Jeanette Jouili. The dissertation examining committee will be composed of Professor Yuksel Sezgin. Professor Timur Hammond will serve as chair of the defense. The title of the candidate's dissertation is: “Distributed Sovereignty: Law, Community, and Authority in the Political Theories of al-Māwardī, al-Juwaynī, and al-Fārābī.”
