Critical Theory @ Newhouse—Emerging Scholars Conference
This two-day conference, held in the I-3 Center, features 11 Newhouse graduate students working in media studies and critical theory. The first day, held April 14 at 12:30 p.m., examines contemporary cinema and streaming series, drawing on Marxism, sound studies, and prison abolition. The second day, held April 21 at 1:00 p.m., focuses on video games, social media and advertising campaigns using theories of gender performance, affective labor, commodity fetishism and health care inequality.
