Grief Workshops: Making, Memory and Collective Care
About this Event
350 W. Fayette St., Syracuse, NY, 13202
With Professor Rochele Royster, Department of Creative Arts Therapy, College of Visual and Performing Arts
This workshop series extends the Dolls4Peace project by creating a space for community members to engage grief through creative practice. Using fabric-based processes such as stitching, wrapping and assemblage, participants will explore grief, loss and remembrance as shared human experiences.
The workshops emphasize making as a form of care, connection and reflection. Participants are welcome to honor personal losses, community trauma or ongoing grief in ways that feel safe and meaningful to them. Finished pieces will become part of the collective installation or may remain with the maker.
These workshops are open to all. No prior art-making experience is necessary.
Workshops will be on:
-
Thursday, Feb. 5, from 5-7 p.m.
-
Thursday, Feb. 19, from 1-3 p.m.
- Saturday, Feb. 28, from 1-3 p.m.
This workshop series is presented in conjunction with the Warehouse Gallery exhibition 2026 Faculty Survey: Ecosystem of Belonging.
