In conjunction with this year’s Black History Month theme, "A Century of Black History Commemorations," we would like to explore the role of soul food in the Black community with students.
This program is designed by an interdisciplinary collaboration in the Barnes Center at The Arch. The program would be an experiential museum-style exhibit where students can visit different stations that will be set up in the Barner-McDuffie House. Students will have a passport that gets stamped as they visit the exhibits.
Exhibits will include:
1) A sampling of soul food and information on how to modify/substitute recipes with healthier alternatives;
2) A video on the history of soul food;
3) An interactive station where students can reflect on their favorite dishes and what soul food means to them;
4) Soul food trivia, and;
5) Information on campus resources.
All are welcome.
