Image of Kompa Class With Darlyncia Nobrun

Join us for a Haitian-American Kompa dance class in recognition of Black History Month. This class centers Kompa as an Afro-Caribbean dance tradition rooted in Black Haitian history, cultural resilience and creative expression.

As an Afro-Latin dance form, Kompa reflects the influence of African rhythms, Caribbean movement and Black diasporic identity shaped by Haiti’s revolutionary legacy. Through music and movement, we honor the ways Black culture has been preserved, transformed and shared across the Americas over the past century. This class creates space to celebrate Black joy, acknowledge cultural lineage and recognize Kompa’s role in the broader history of Black and Afro-Latin artistic expression.

All experience levels are welcome to move, learn and celebrate together!
