About this Event
100 College Pl, Syracuse, NY 13210
This workshop for grad students and postdocs is based on the Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research’s (CIMER) Entering Mentoring curriculum and will focus on maintaining effective communication and working with undergraduate students to establish clear expectations. This is an interactive, scenario-based workshop where participants work with a community of peers to develop and improve their mentoring skills. Participants will start to develop or enhance their own personal mentoring philosophy and leave with a set of strategies to help with mentoring challenges. The workshop is led by CIMER-Certified Facilitator Dr. Heather Coleman (Biology). A second workshop, focusing on assessing understanding and fostering independence, is offered Tuesday, June 9 (9-11 a.m. in Lyman Hall 312).
