This discussion is part of a global teach-in/teach-out at more than 26 universities worldwide, organized by the Global Migration Scholars Network.

November 11 marks the end of World War I. In the United States, we commemorate the end of the war by celebrating Veterans Day; in Europe, it is often known as Armistice/Remembrance Day. The Migration Scholars Network selected this day for its first event as not only a reminder “that wars produce refugees but also that many of the survivors of that war hoped their sacrifices would produce a more peaceful and just world” (Call for Teach-Ins/Outs).

The goal of the event is two-fold: (1) to offer space for respectful discussion for Syracuse University and Central New York community members and (2) to identify and build a network of scholars committed to advancing critical migration studies scholarship and collective action across the Syracuse University campus and beyond.

For more information, please reach out to the organizers Lauren Woodard (lawoodar@syr.edu), Gladys McCormick (gmccormi@syr.edu) and Susan Thomas (sthoma12@syr.edu). This event is co-sponsored by the Engaged Humanities Network.
