Image of Publishing in the Humanities: What We Can Learn From Multilingual Writers About Writing for Publication

In her book, Sites of Translation, Laura Gonzales demonstrates what we can learn from multilinguals about being more effective communicators. She shows us how, as multilinguals, we engage with our diverse abilities and capacities to make meaning in different contexts. She also demonstrates how multilingual scholars navigate language-based hurdles in a unique way.

As scholars in the field of Rhetoric and Composition, the panelists understand that writing for coursework, writing for exams, writing the dissertation and writing for publication each have a different purpose, voice and audience. Similarly, receiving and incorporating feedback for each of these genres is also different. Thus, the Writing Center is hosting a panel of multilingual students and instructors with published work to share their experiences and offer guidance on writing for publication and navigating feedback from editors.

Panelists: Kevin Browne, Curtis Jewell, Sevinç Türkkan and Joseph Wilson
