This workshop introduces students to the art of zine-making with a special focus on counter-archiving, a practice developed by Black communities when their creative work was excluded from mainstream media and traditional archives.
Participants will explore how art can serve as both activism and a mental health outlet, using zines as a powerful medium for self-expression, storytelling and preserving histories that are often overlooked. Through hands-on creation, discussion and reflection, attendees will learn how zines can challenge dominant narratives and uplift marginalized voices.
Sponsored by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. All are welcome.
